Connecting the Pool Cover Opener (PCO)
 |
Preferred Location for Wiring the PCO |
The four wires coming out of the device are marked with numbers 1 to 4:
- Plug-in wires 1 and 2 to the power source. For a DC power source, wire 1 is the negative voltage, wire 2 is positive. For AC power sources, wires 1 and 2 can be interchanged
- Wires 3 and 4 are connected to the internal relay and can be connected interchangeably to the device that you are controlling.

Configuring the PCO
With you cell phone or laptop, open the wifi settings and connect to the network named PCO-[DEVICE ID]. The device ID is a 6 letter/digit ID indicated on the device.

|
When powered, you can connect the PCO through its WiFi access point. In the example above, the source is named PCO-A941DD. No password is needed until a password is set in the configuration |

|
Open the Upwind IoT application, pull down to refresh the screen, the PCO-A941DD device should appear in the list of devices. If using a web browser instead of the application, you can go to http://192.168.4.1 to configure the device |

|
From the Settings tab, configure the PCO to connect to your router. Once connected to a router, the PCO will stop behaving as an access point and you can connect to it through your local network. In the Settings tab you can also give the output a custom name such as "Pool Cover", this is useful for Upwind devices that have more than one output |

|
From the Administration tab, you can give the PCO a custom ID, set a password and allow access from the cloud including Google Home. The password is used when connecting to the device through its access point and from the cloud, but not from the local network

| From the Status tab, you can toggle on or off the PCO output and set the duration for which the output will remain ON. For a typical pool cover, this will be around 90 seconds |
Common IssuesThe PCO device is not visible in the WiFi settings and I cannot connect to it Reason: The PCO behaves as an access point only for 5 minutes after being plugged-in. It will remain active as an access point if it cannot connect to a router Solution: Unplug the PCO and plug it back it. You will have 5 minutes to reconfigure the device
My router is frequently changing the IP address of my device which makes it more difficult to access it Solution: Connect to the device through a browser and not the Upwind IoT app. Next to the WiFi settings, you will see a field for entering a static IP. Make sure you enter a valid static IP and click on Apply
